No. 20

March 21 - I really like how this picture turned out. I wanted to take a picture through the fence that separated the tennis courts from the rest of the parking lot. I purposefully used a short depth of field in this photo, and the player is blurry while the fence is sharp.

March 21 - I really like looking at bumper stickers when I drive on the road or walk in a parking lot. I sat down to take this picture, which told a lot about this driver in just one picture. My favorite part of this photo is seeing the Obama bumper sticker over the Kerry/Edwards one.

March 21 - I took this picture looking directly down at the trash can. This trash can sits just outside the 300 wing; I have walked by it hundreds of times. Yet I did not know about this painting of the sun until I took this picture. With this project, I opened my eyes to this school.

March 21 - I wanted to get a worm's eye view of the unique flowers close to the courtyard. I also wanted to get the bench in this picture. I took this picture laying down on the concrete.

March 21 - As the buses left the campus, I liked seeing just this little cluster of students sitting by the sidewalk. I wanted to get a big view of this field of vision to encapsulate this true feeling of Jordan.

No. 15

March 21 - I thought these recycling bottles were fascinating. They encourage people to recycle, but they also contain symbols from corporations. I can recognize the last "E" on the left side to be from Pepsi and the "C" in the middle of the right side to be from Coca-Cola. It is amazing to consider that even in schools, students are exposed to consumerism. I squatted down while I took this photo to get a nice angle to see the letters.

No. 14

March 21 - I had not noticed this painting until I took this picture. I thought it was so interesting to see a mirror reflect what this little cartoon character could become several years down the road. This painting reflects what a lot of adolescents envision for themselves in the future, and I wanted to take a picture of it.

No. 13

March 21 - I took this picture with an aim to show his megaphone from an upward angle. Unlike some other photos in this project that have a worm's eye view, I took this photo from my regular standing position.

No. 12

March 21 - I took this picture standing up and creating an angle with the lock. I took this picture because I noticed the marks on the door that years and years of use had done.

No. 11

March 20 - I sat down on the floor to take this picture of my chessboard at eye-level. cropped this photo very tightly and wanted to keep the pieces as they were so capture the ingenuity of the photo.

No. 10

March 20 - I took this picture looking down at the flower. I wanted contrast with the previous photo I had taken and wanted to show this one flower very prominently.

No. 9

March 20 - I took this picture in my yard laying down. I wanted to shoot an upward glance of these two flowers in my yard. A vast array of flowers has not grown in my yard, just these two flowers, fluttering with the wind.

No. 8

March 20 - This picture is located just outside my house. I thought it was very interesting to have a beautiful tree grow right through a street pole, so I wanted to take a picture of it. I cropped in tightly on the sides of the tree.

No. 7

March 20 - This picture is a portrait of my mom. I wanted to crop really tightly on her -- no empty space exists above her face in his photo. I also simply told her to continue typing when I took this picture because I wanted it to be a true representation of what she does.

No. 6

March 20 - The photo Cameron DuBois took for one of my columns last year inspired me to take a picture of all of the hip-hop albums in my house. I took this picture while standing on top of a chair to include many CDs. Although this arrangement may seem haphazard a first glance, I arranged these albums by regionalism and by associated acts. For example, Dr. Dre's album The Chronic is located literally underneath the works of some of his proteges, Eminem and Snoop Dogg.

No. 5

March 20 - I took this picture while standing on my bed. I wanted to include a downward view at some of the books I use for school and for studying the SAT. I also wanted to crop really tightly on the books that I use for academics as well, though.

No. 4

March 20 - I really like all the quotes I put in my room and wanted to include them in my project. I took his picture squatting down a bit to get an upward glance at the picture frame and quotes.

No. 3

March 20 - My Carolina flag is already taller than I am when I stand up. I chose to lie down on the ground and take this picture to capture a worm's eye view of the flag. I wanted the view to be dark, so I closed the blinds in my room as well.

No. 2

March 20 - People in my AP U.S. History class each wrote nice comments about each other towards the end of the year. I wanted to crop really tightly on this picture to take sure that people could read the comments.

March 20 - This photo is a self-portrait of me listening to my iPod. I laid the camera on a tri-pod and put it on a timer so that I could take this picture. I like this picture because one can see the iPod very clearly. I also cropped the photo so that anyone can see the quote on my wall, "Life is not the amount of breaths you take; it's the moments that take your breath away."
